Blah to.... Beautiful

white may do the trick to spice these up...

the pulls were painted a fresh coat of oil-rubbed bronze,

now they really stand out against the white!

Beth had these delivered last week & right away I knew they would look great!  They were nice & solid & the perfect candidate for a re-do.  Annie Sloan's Pure White paint with oil-rubbed bronze pulls was exactly what this set needed.  It distressed so nice & is absolutely shabby chic!

This little piece was found by Beth at Not Too Shabby in the Gateway Mall.  

She said I could do whatever I wanted with it. I knew I wanted a word on the door and I liked the "quilting" I had done on an earlier project, so I pulled my ideas together and created this fun cabinet.  

I had the paper from when I used to scrapbook the hard way...

now its all digital for me, so the paper needed to go..  

Vinyl letters were used to create the "Imagine" at the bottom of the door.

Mints and Roses

This piece was painted a soft green, distressed and waxed with dark and clear wax. The backs of the shelves are "quilted" with rose scrapbook paper and sealed with Modge Podge.  

I used 2" squares to create the patchwork.  

These knobs are MUCH better.

1950 Retro Buffet

Our friend, Beth, from Not Too Shabby purchased this great 1950 buffet & had a vision.  She told me to paint the body in high gloss white & a beachy aqua fun color on the doors & drawers.  I took off to Lowe's to find the aqua & the rest is history!  It definitely has a new, fresh, beachy look!

It is in great shape, but just needed some character!  This piece was sanded, primed, and painted with high gloss white.  The doors & drawer faces were painted in Neptune by Valspar (Lowe's).

I just emailed pictures to Beth & it won't hit the store, she is keeping this one!  Thanks Beth for the fun redo!  Feel free to visit Beth at her store "Not Too Shabby" in the Gateway Mall if your in the mood for some fun finds!!

Dashing in Duck Egg Blue

After a wonderful weekend with friends and family, 

I retreated to the garage and started painting this piece for 

Beth at Not Too Shabby in the Gateway Mall.  

Of course, I forgot the "before" picture...

but it was cream with speckles and baby blue accents.  Ugh.  

Now it has a fresh coat of Duck Egg Blue ASCP, 

some distressing and wax to seal it.  

The color appears washed out in these photos. 

I painted the hardware a dark antique bronze.

The handles and knobs look amazing. 

My garage...not so amazing. 

This piece would be a beautiful dresser or a buffet.

I would say that this picture represents the true color better than the ones above...the fluorescent lights and the iphone work perfectly together:)  

Nice reflection...hockey gear airing out.  

Anyway, this piece will be at Not Too Shabby on Thursday. 

Hopefully between now and then I can clear the clutter in my garage.

My Whole Heart

Heather "pinned" this idea on Pinterest and I loved it.  

I used an old canvas with a picture of a plane on it and painted it brown.  I added 2" and 3" vinyl letters, then painted the entire surface old white.  Finally, I peeled off the letters, sanded it and sealed it with wax.  

Then I made the bed.  

Fun little morning project.

Snow and Ice

The title of this post, Snow and Ice, describes our 

weather today and the color of this piece.  

It started out brown, boring and dated.  Now it is ready to hit the town.

The unique pulls received a fresh coat of paint.

I painted it Duck Egg Blue, heavily distressed it and 

used both clear and dark wax.  

I apologize for the lighting in my garage...I typically haul everything in for a "photo shoot,"  but my furniture mover was unavailable.  

I LOVE the unique details that stand out with the distressing.  

Do you like the handles?  

I have a greater appreciation for them now that the piece is no longer brown and the antique bronze spray paint freshened them up.

Retro Shades of Pink!

before ~ knobs & handles missing (aughhhh)!

pretty in pink (on my ugly unfinished basement floor)!

I love it when my kitchen is filled with drawers (at least their colorful)!

Such a neat look!

Both of the dressers would look great together!

OK...  so yesterday I had my "shades of blue", now today.... surprise, "shades of pink"!

I know I mentioned this in the last post, but this retro furniture is awesome ~ solidly built, glides wonderful, & an overall great piece of furniture!!

This one was missing quite a bit of hardware also, so creativity was key!  Let me tell you, finding drawer pulls that fit the previous holes was not going to happen (I think I went to 3 home improvement stores & looked online for longer than I care to admit)!!!  I ended up buying some plates that covered the original holes & paired them with a knob.  I did use a little of the previous hardware & gave it all a fresh coat of brushed nickel spraypaint.

I really love these cool, retro pieces (especially b/c they have such great lines & are so funky)!!

Hope you like looking at them as much as I liked painting them!!
