For Marcene

Marcene, a friend and co-worker of my mother-in-law,
asked if we would paint this sewing cabinet and step stool for her.  Both pieces have sentimental value, but needed sprucing up to work in her home.

Sewing Cabinet.  Before.

Step Stool.  Before.

Step Stool.  After.

This piece has layers of paint on it.  It was partially stripped, but still had lots of layers and chunks of paint.  We sanded it down, painted it old white.
Distressed it.  Then distressed it again to bring out the layers underneath.  We added a darker wax to age it, then topped it off with a whitish wax .
It has a great patina and we hope Marcene likes it.

Sewing Table.  After.

This piece was painted old white, distressed quite heavily and sealed with wax. We painted the hardware an antique bronze.  It looks great.  This finish is so nice and it looks like its ready for another fifty years of sewing...or as a bedside table.

Thanks Marcene!  We appreciated the opportunity to work on these pieces.

Summer Vacation

Our summer vacation starts tomorrow...
so today, I needed to get lots done.  I fixed up a mirror that needed to be repaired, painted this table and about 100 other things.

This table looked awful...I don't have a picture of it, but it was bad.
So I cleaned it up, added several screws to tighten things up and
added a fresh coat of ASCP in Pure White.  I distressed it heavily
and added wax to give it a great finish.

I love it.

Summer is in the air.

Look at that texture.  Perfect.

I obviously struggled getting these unloaded by myself...but, while in this position, I cleaned them up and started painting.

This set deserved a fresh coat of ASCP in Pure White.
Add in some distressing, wax and a fresh coat of paint on the handles and this set is ready for the showroom...or Bisman.

Fresh.

Orange Soda Pop!

end tables ~ before.. shiny & glossy (had to sand & degloss)

coffee table ~ before

super cute ~ love these pieces!

coffee table

night stand #1

nightstand #2

fun pieces ~ end tables would be perfect night stands on either side of a bed!

O.k....  Kind of a cheesy title for this adorable end table(s)/coffee table set, but....
these cute pieces reminded me of the old days when Sunkist Soda was the yummiest thing around.  The color is perfectly orange (ASCP Barcelona to be exact)!

These pieces are great & as I was painting them, I think I came up with 100 different places they would look great in a home!  I will not list all 100, but here is a few:

  • Children's room (coffee table for board games/coloring/etc.)
  • Pre-teen/Teenager's room (funky colors to go with their funky personalities)!
  • Rec Room/Family Room (any area where kids hang out with friends)
  • Fun outdoor furniture (I don't know how well this would work, but sprayed with a Rustoleum or some kind of sealer, I imagine they would hold up)
  • Children's Play Room
  • Eclectic Office Area
  • Spare bedroom (with some fun bedding & lamps ~ could lay out fun magazines or books on)
Enough with my suggestions....  I just think they are so fun & unique ~ very retro pieces!!

Thanks for visiting,
Heather :)

Lemonade

Nice, solid dresser... just looking a little outdated

With a couple fresh coats of paint, it's ready for summer

This picture is true to the color of yellow in the dresser.... for some reason, the others look a little lighter???  Maybe time for a new camera??

Another view of the neat details of this piece

This dresser is solid & in great condition.  I painted the first coat in ASCP Pure White, but then decided it needed a little color!  I actually mixed paint colors to come up with this, so I'm naming the creation...Lemonade b/c that is what it looks like to me!

The top drawers have a plastic facing to them which means that caning will never chip or break off.  This dresser has a lot of character & could be used in any room as a unique storage piece!

Thanks for looking!
Heather
