The Same, But Different

I purchased these two Bassett dressers a couple weeks ago (for $45)
as I started to redecorate my boys' rooms.

It is amazing how paint and color can completely change the look...
see below.

Pure White. Antibes Green. Graphite.

Old White. Barcelona Orange.

I love the differences between the two dressers,
just like I love the differences between my two boys.

Buffet Transformation

before

during

This was an idea before the whole piece was painted Old White
(isn't it funny how different the base photographed.....the picture above & this one were photographed just minutes apart, but the color looks completely different (think I need a new camera.....)

neat detail on the doors

This buffet was beautiful to begin with, but now is shabby chic'd!  The base coat of the buffet was done in red (almost a barn red).  Then I painted a coat of ASCP Old White over & gave it a good bit of distressing.  The hinges & pulls were spray painted in Oil Rubbed Bronze by Rustoleum to jazz them up!

This is another piece Leslie Eckert of "Soul Interiors" dropped off for a re-do.  We will let you know as soon as her store opens!  You can visit her website @ www.mysoulinteriors.com.  Please keep looking.....  Leslie will be dropping off more fun pieces soon!

Classy Lil' Coffee Table

before

after

A nice, smaller scale coffee table that I first painted in ASCP Chateau Grey.  When the first coat was dry, I followed it up with a French Grey & then did a little distressing so you could see the Chateau Grey peeking a little from underneath.

This piece & quite a few to come were given to us to paint by Leslie Eckert.  Leslie is the owner of Soul Interiors & plans to open a store in the very near future!  To check out her website visit www.mysoulinteriors.com

Writing Desk in White

Desk. Before.

I really wanted to paint the cubbies inside the desk, but knew they needed to be removed to get decent coverage with the paint.  So, I removed the back panel and the staples holding the cubbies in place.  Easy. Peasy.

They were still a bugger to paint...but so worth it.

Desk. After.

Isn't she pretty?

I used Pure White by ASCP, distressed and waxed it.
The handles were given new life with a little antique bronze paint.

i think distressing a piece brings out all the
details that were hidden in the wood.

The inside of the desk looks just perfect...
so glad I made the extra effort and pulled the cubbies out.

Look at these little feet.  Adorable.

This piece was done for a new client of ours!

Soul Interiors is a Home ReDesign and Home Staging company in Bismarck, ND.  The owner, Leslie Eckert, will be opening a store in the near future and has
asked Heather and I to paint some pieces for the it.

Leslie has dropped off a number of unique items and we will be posting
pictures of them all. We are excited about this opportunity and we will certainly let you know where and when Soul Interiors will be opening.

For Thomas

We FINALLY found a dresser that Thomas approved of and started
planning for a bedroom makeover.  He is quite picky and has lots of ideas of his own.  So, I "pinned" a number of ideas and we came up with a plan.

The Dresser.  Before.

The Dresser.  After.

I painted the body of the dresser Old White and the drawers are
Graphite and Antibes Green from Annie Sloan.

It is lightly distressed...to keep the "modern" look my son was looking for.
We sprayed the handles bright white.

Yesterday we added a 5' piece of roofing metal...
its much cheaper than sheet metal ($15 for 10 feet).

Now he has a place to display artwork, pictures and awards.

Looks good...and he LIKES it!

The Bookshelf.  Before.

I painted the bookshelf white and added a "quilt" of coordinating papers
to the inside of it.  I simply cut squares of paper, put them in
place randomly and covered the surface with Modge Podge
(my third project this week that included it).

The Bookshelf.  After.

Love it!  I love the pop of orange that the lamp provides.
I used scrapbook papers in gray, green and white patterns.

Bedding.  Same as before, just added a pop of orange.

We added the hanging book rack to store Lego magazines and other books.  I used tall, round garbage cans to store the immense number of Nerf guns. These also work great in the garage for hockey sticks, baseball bats and tennis rackets.

Love this idea that I found on Pinterest...cheap, easy and cool.

I had created this piece a while back and you can find a tutorial here.

After quite a bit of planning, I think the room came together perfectly.
Thomas thinks it great...and that's what matters.
